kerala: God's own country

jew town, kochi, kerala 2011

guys. i'm in the middle of editing a slew of photos from our trip to kerala this past weekend. but! i'm updating my blog! because: we have internet today! this picture is, so far, my favorite from our trip.

husband was out of station today to the coast, because his father/ my father in law is here for the next few weeks. hubs went to pick up not just a care package, which our students have been receiving left and right (that have been making me jealous), but an entire care suitcase! my inlaws are awesome.

tomorrow is diwali, the festival of lights. i'm excited, but also a little concerned. see, here, to celebrate the festival of lights people light off a lot of fireworks ('crackers'). we've been hearing the thunder of exploding fireworks since monday, and i can't even imagine how crazy tomorrow is going to be, given that i jump every time one goes off and people are just warming up! i'm super excited to be living here during two of the festivals i've been wanting to take part in since i learned of their existence- diwali, which is tomorrow, and holi, in march.

there's a break in the monsoon, so i'm going to leave you all waiting on pictures from kerala and stories from diwali with this: monsoon season + festivals makes me a happy camper!
