snippets: bossman

meet my boss. almost every day this week, we've been greeted by this sight: dress clothes, computer bag, indian bike AND, the icing on the cake, a kayaking helmet serving as a bicycle helmet. (no one. i repeat: no one wears bicycle helmets here).

if that wasn't great enough, please note the bubble wrap still on the frame of the bike, as well as the green 'antennae' serving as brakes. when we laughed and asked why he hadn't fully unwrapped his bike, he explained that it's because of the indian tendency to leave new things (particularly the seats of cars) wrapped with the plastic they come with even after purchase. he was trying to "indianize", he said. 

j and i have talked several times about how incredibly grateful we are to be here with said hilarious bossman and his family- because we love working under him, because we adore his wife and two boys, and because he's the right touch of leader + hilarious to make our time here both throughly enjoyable as well as productive and something we can both grow from. 

that he rides by us every morning in this get up, on this "indianized" bike just makes it all the better.
