remember how i said i had big news?
when i wrote that, i still wasn't sure of the outcome. but now i know. and we're ready to announce:
we're excited. we're a little scared. we're sad to leave friends and my job and our iraqi family and this place we have grown to love all behind. we have a lot to figure out yet. where do we keep our stuff? where will we move back to (we've decided denver. as our iraqi friends say, 'insha'allah)? can we actually pull through with sub-letting our apartment? how long will we be there (6 months for sure. maybe longer. we're hoping longer). what about grad school? we don't speak tamil...? what about our non-profit?
but that's ok. because we're moving to india and all of these things will have to work themselves out in the next few weeks, because come late august, we'll be living in tamil nadu, learning to pronounce things like, "mahabalipuram" and try to read things like: எ0 கப்ப முழுது0 வெலாங்கு மீன்க (my hovercraft is full of eels, for the curious.)
so, my reasons for needing to eat sushi now because i will miss it in the future are entirely moving (read: not baby) related. i think sushi would be pretty hard to come by in india.
want to come visit??

That's awesome, Kandyce! Awesome and crazy! Congrats to you and Jonathan. I'm excited to follow your adventures there and will be praying for you both.
Huzzah! We're so happy for you! We'll be praying lots and we love you both! You always have a place here, for stuff or for shelter. ;)
The finny finn finns.
WOW!!! What a blessing and a huge adventure. Feel free to move to Florida when you get back. It turns out they have room for just a few more.
Miss you guys...eli
CONGRATS on the big transition!!! So exciting :) Stop by Cairo on the way, okay?
Miss you both!
Becca
YAY! I was wondering when I saw your facebook status about renting out the apartment. SO excited for you! What will you be doing there? (Or is that news for a future blog post?)
@ abby- exciting, yes. also nerve wracking.
@ finny finn finns- how does august 18-22 sound? :)
@ eli- we have no idea what post- india holds. we're still working out the pre-india details. but we'll keep florida in mind. :) we're trying to secure our apartment and my job for 6 months from now, which is complicated but we're hopeful.
@ becca- on the way home. you got it. cairo and siwa.
@ krista- i'll go into more detail later, but we'll be working for the india version of MESP.
YAYYYYYY K! So happy to hear your news!
p.s. if you are at the finny finn finns i expect to hear! they are <2hrs from me!
so happy for you again!
you're doing ISP!?! that's so great!! my sister's doing that next spring!! her name's Hannah. i'm curious to hear what your roles are going to be. yay!!!!!!! so happy for you two!
Ah! You went to Gordon? What year did you graduate?
YES I loved it and YES I wish I could go back - but at this point it still kind of feels like I'm on summer break. It'll probably hit me in September.
Your blog - gorgeous. So glad I found it. And congratulations on the move. I'm all for trying new things and going to new places. I'll be following along as you experience all the new and wonderful!
So nice to meet someone from Gordon! That doesn't happen often enough.
@meg- we're staying with the finns from probably the 18th to the 22nd, and will head to india from there.
@rachel- yes! sadly, we'll only be there for the first month or so of the spring semester (but if your sister tells all of her friends to apply and they actually do it and go, we'll be back more permenantely in fall of '12, depending on my job situation in denver.)
@stevie- thanks for the kind words. the first year post-gordon was by far the hardest for me. i spent a LOT of time pining for good ol' GoCo that year, and even now, the thought of heading back up to the north shore in a few weeks gets me all giddy with excitement. i look forward to following along with your year post-gordon, too- from south india! :)
and @stevie- i forgot. graduated in '06.
oh wow! congratulations. that is super exciting!!!
and since I am horrible at responding:
- we have no room for a pouf. Behr takes up way too much room already, but I might consider taking you up on it once we live somewhere else.
- I did not end up buying the monkey hat...so if you ever do learn to make it, I would love one!
When is the big move???
@shannon- exciting, yes. also stressful at this point.
and i would love to learn to make the monkey hat- if we weren't on our way out the door to india... maybe i'll let it be a project for when i get back. :)
we're heading out of here most likely on august 18.
