a little link love (and lots of photos!)
well, the first one is clearly finished. this is miss leila's sweater, knitted from ravelry's 'fall vest' pattern and some lamb's pride in pistachio and victorian pink:
and this is something i've been working on this weekend (blue scraps. i made the peppermint pouf a few months ago):
see, i had this shirt (pink scraps on the right). from high school. no joke, i figured out i've had it for maybe 9 or 10 years... probably time for it to retire, as it was growing rather tired (the fabric actually ripped often while i was picking it apart) and had a few "additions" that wouldn't come out in the wash:
so, i picked it apart (the most time consuming part of the process thus far).
used my picked apart pieces as a pattern and busted out dusted off great gram's old singer.
and started stitching together something pretty in blue! stay tuned (i know you're all on the edge of your respective seats.)
i've found a few great sewing/ refashion blogs lately, and i'm feeling inspired to work through my fabric stash during buy nothing lent. i also recently made a baby kimono but didn't manage to take pictures in my excitement to give it to my pregnant co-worker. fret not, though, i have two more to make and will try to get pictures of those before giving them away.

oh, so cute! You are really crafting up a storm... looks like fun! I have been wishing I could do more sewing lately. (Well, really anything other than writing about "postmodern states," ugh.) I am totally checking out those sewing blogs you mentioned but then it makes me want to do creative things even MORE.
Nice post!

1. I am a bum for not ever getting back to you about the pouf.
2. I would LOVE if you would be willing to guest blog for me. Perhaps a post about all of the adorable things for baby you have made oh so ever talented one! You totally impress me.
3. How did I know so much less about you in college when I saw you almost every day?
shannon-
1. no problem! the offer is still good. and again, it's not like you had a baby or anything. (on that note, i seriously cannot get over how cute your baby is.)
2. sure! though maybe i should start saving (... taking) some pictures. let me rummage through the iPhoto archive and see if i have enough for something substantial.
3. i feel the same way... but it's probably because we were pitted against each other in just about every political discussion we had in just about every class we shared! :)
jRo-
perhaps sewing/ making stuff is the sort of thing one does when one is not gallivanting across northern europe?
just a thought. :)
i have two machines if you ever want to come over for a sew along or something equally grama-nerdy.
Me, to my mother: Mom! I am not the only one who still has shirts from high school, Kandyce does too!
My mother: Oh, well isn't that just special, with a "wow. there is another person in this world as weird as my daughter?" look.
Can't wait to see what you fashion!
