adventures in food, knitting and travel: in sum

i never understood the savory/ sweet talk until i made this last night. it is delicious.

also, finished the sweater, the socks and about 16 million pairs of baby booties. (maybe not that many, but there are a LOT of people in my life having babies these days.)

mostly just looking forward to team pinckney: israel v. 2.0, which launches in 2 weeks from today! j's gallivanting through turkey presently and still managing to make time to chat- have i mentioned lately that i'm so thankful for him?

driving up to mike and becca's tonight to eat with them and to meet baby abby. also looking forward to that, now that i can get my car out of the driveway.

i wish, i wish...

this breaks my heart. as i think about going back to israel (and possibly about being able to travel to palestine this time around), i figure i should read up on what's going on over there these days. each and every story is heartbreaking, frustrating, filled with tragedy. a lot of them, especially surrounding the findings in goldstone report, are sickening. i'm looking forward to a bit of a more balanced perspective, for sure, but also for a chance to see all of these things in person and make them more than just ideas or headlines in a paper i read.

but then, sometimes, i wonder how God expects us to continually go to the hard places and still remain humans, capable of feeling anything after we return to our daily lives.

i win! again!

i'm going back to israel. :) to experience it through a lens i regret not having in college. to learn. to be challenged. to spend with my love and his students who love him enough to donate their weekly food allowance to buy me a ticket.

God has provided for me countless times in the course of my job here at DFN, and it makes me smile to know that His most frequent means of providence has been through the generosity of my friends (and in this case, friends i haven't met yet) towards airfare to see the people i love.

things i would like to do sooner rather than later:

- knit a sweater
- knit christmas stockings
- marry my love, my best friend, the man i never dared to dream could really exist
- tailor 85% of my pants (they just don't make 'em for people my size)
- make a font out of my handwriting
